Guernsey Monopoly
I joined in with a game of Guernsey Monopoly
Around the table deputies surrounded poor me
They dealt out all the money, two for them, one for me
I knew I'd never win or get let out of jail free
But I thought I'd try my best and see just how I might do
I even thought I'd see if I could help the locals out too
Well...
I chose to use the top hat thinking I'd look pretty swank
Another used the Rolls Royce, sat in front of the bank
He covered stolen hotels just in case I might see
And when I landed on them, he did jump like a flea
He took all my money, left me pretty much broke
He was drooling with excitement through his cigarette smoke
I pulled out hidden money and I paid all my fines
The rent was pretty high but that's the sign of the times
I gave the dice a lucky shake but I rolled out a one
This game was getting tedious... it wasn't much fun
The banker stacked his profit, kept one eye on the board
Knowing Mill Street was the only place that I could afford
He handed me the deeds and with a smile on his face
He said he'd knock down Mill Street put some flats in its place
Maybe add more offices... and a higher class café
All to be paid for, from the average workers pay
A deputy bought Fermain just to have a good life
As his girlfriend lived down Cobo far away from his wife
One of them grabbed Fort George just to show off his wealth
This game was getting real, it wasn't good for my health
The price to see the doctor, man... It cost me a house
Seemed everyone was after me, like cats verses mouse
There seemed to be more roads closed and they happened to be mine
They passed me with diversions ... Time after time
I threw myself a six at last and I passed Fort George by
A move without no profit, man... I thought he might cry
But when I came up trumps... and I bought myself Vale
Well they all got pretty mad and threw my arse into jail
Knowing that a jail card I never did own
I decided that I'd stay here... End the game with a home
