The Butterfly

The Butterfly

I smiled and watched a butterfly
I watched it dance and flutter by
I followed it with eyes anew
Attracted by its blue
I then tried to understand
As I held out a steady hand
Why it landed in my open palm
As if that it knew I meant no harm
All awhile it stared at me
I'd never felt so strong and free
Its little wings then took to flight
And vanished out of sight
My very heart began to warm
Id been the butterflies platform
To land and rest it's wings upon
Another chosen one
Another which it felt secure
Reviving wings of blue azure
To travel on to distant lands...
And other caring hands

The Perfect Crime

The Perfect Crime

The break-in was always intentional
Not one of those "spur of the moment" things
I had to have it... I wanted it
No matter the trouble it brings
I stole it then... I admit to all
I will be honest right here from the start
I confess to committing the perfect crime
And own up to the theft of your heart

Children

Children

Remember all those precious days, now known as distant past
Times when every day you wished, would never end and last
The kisses in the cinema... so secret in the dark
The walks in summer sunshine, hand in hand around the park
Remember every heartache on those nights you sobbed and cried
Exactly where you were when it was said that Elvis died
The songs you liked to dance too, with the words that meant so much
Special times with arms wrapped around you, the gentlest of touch
Many things of innocence, important from our youth
When aged are only memories of love and hope and truth
But youth it does continue... even if... just in the mind
As all of us are children... only some are grey and lined

Sorrow Lake

Sorrow Lake

I threw a stone into the lake
As if somehow its glass might break
The ripples rocked to muddy shore
I gathered rocks... And threw some more
Her eyes stared strangely into mine
Beneath her dark and murky shrine
Distorted by the stones I'd thrown
She looked never more alone
And in the darkness crickets sang
Around my throat the air did hang
Restricting every breath I take
Beside the icy lake
Her photograph it slowly sank
I cried with sadness on the bank
And as the tears fell from my eyes
I said my last goodbyes
I stood awhile as if to pray
But had no words of faith to say
So gave a sigh and turned around
And left without a sound

Untitled

Untitled

It would only take the breath of you
That whispered words that we were through
To rip my very world apart
And break the proudest heart
Then every day would be the same
Without your sunshine... only rain
I'd drown amongst the falling tears
And dwell upon our years
You and I were meant to be
As you and I are destiny
So never whisper broken dreams
Or pick apart my unstitched seams
As what am I without you here?
A future never more unclear
Surrounded by a vacant space
That always wears your face

Savage Times

Savage Times

They say that in those savage times
When man committed many crimes
He could not see and would not hear
Refused to stop his reign of fear
On he went... destroying all
Oblivious to natures call
When underneath a burning sun
He had no choice...but run
Run he did, he could not hide
As demons screamed from deep inside
And every way in which he'd turn
The man he failed to learn
That if he'd followed his own heart
The Essence of his very start
He might have changed and thrived again
Avoid a world of pain
But he the weak, curled up and cried
Pathetic on the day he died
The self appointed king of all
Was nothing at his fall
And when the wind swept him away
Rain fell on this very day
Cleansing earth in natures name
It washed away mans shame

Ghost Town

Ghost Town

Wind whips through a desert town
Shutters bang... the only sound
The ghosts of many linger here
With dust upon the ground
Once its picture-house was king
Where movies beamed through smoke
A vacant piano sits alone
Since actors sang and spoke
In the town an empty diner
Crome transformed to rust
Vibrant chatter spoken here...
All gossip whispered lost
Cars abandoned show an age
When things were meant to last
Pride forgotten long ago
Left here with times of past
The wind blows by unnoticed
And as silence settles down
Nothing moves but shadows
In this old abandoned town

Within Your Maze

Within Your Maze

In crystal rain you smiled at me
Your tranquil eyes enchanted me
My soul escaped... a moment free
With yours, my spirit wished to be
And in the breeze we matched so right
When wrapped together, holding tight
We shone like everlasting light
That no one else could see
In that moment... in your gaze
I lost myself within your maze
Deliberately I took wrong turns
A tragic lover never learns!
As lost in you Is luxury
Without you I refuse to be
You are the major part of me
My beating heart that yearns

What if...

What if...

What if... a man appeared
And said he was the one!
That he had visited before
Known as gods own son
A second coming promised
Had arrived this very day
Would you listen to his words?
Or would you turn and walk away!

What if this man stood there
Before your very eyes
Would you believe in what he said...
Or would you think his words were lies?
Even if he proved himself
To those that wished him here
Would he fill your heart with love?
Or would your mind be filled with fear!

What if the door slammed shut
When he was locked away!
The pills the doctors gave him...
Made him slur when he did pray
And shut away in silence...
With a Hitler and a Pope
Without the wood and nails
Would he end his days with rope?

What if... we were wrong!
And words he'd spoke were true!
Yet all we did was ridicule
Like humans always do
And after all the waiting
We had thrown all hope away
As we were all too busy
With our usual troubled day

A Rebel Lost in Time

A Rebel Lost in Time

I guess I just grew up
Not intended... but I did
I never thought I'd leave behind...
That fucked up rebel kid
He who couldn't give a damn
As life was just a joke
Life just wasn't made for him
As parts of him were broke
But as I grew to understand
That life was just a test
I had nothing more to lose
So i thought I'd do my best
I gave this world a try
As if to see if I could fit
Discovering I could...
And that not all of it was shit
So now I'm getting older
And as I approach my prime
I'm happy in my little world
A rebel lost in time

An Eye for an Eye

An Eye for an Eye

An eye for an eye would leave the whole world blind
A declaration of war is just "revenge" once signed
Hatred is the blood thats going to stain your hand
Why fight for some religion of a distant land?
The whole world is pointing to the land of greed
Who appointed hatred as a law decreed?
Now the sights on every gun are aimed at you
The missiles of the nations all locked your way too
You the land of god that preaches war and hate
Your blindness will turn out to be your fate

Where God Came to Weep

Where God Came to Weep

The end IS nigh
Winds howl their sadness... a pitiful cry
And from higher plains where teardrops do fall
A universe sobs for the end of us all
We spiral and turn... We are not in control!
A human is something that carries a soul
The world doesn't need us... We shall be replaced
And remembered as creatures who came and disgraced
The earth shall remain and again it will thrive
Others will live here... and maybe survive
A new dawn shall rise after healing and sleep
And shine on the planet where god came to weep

Boy Child

Boy Child (for my new grandson TyRhys - 22/2/14)

Helpless boy child
On one so much depends
A straight line before you
Unclear of life's bends
Upon your own journey
Be honest and true
So your path is a good one
And hurdles are few
When age ascends
With its mountains to climb
Don't try to rush forward
You have plenty of time
So be yourself
Keep eyes open to see
And end as the man
That you wanted to be

A Test of Faith

A Test of Faith

All gods men have been tested
As disciples must prove all their worth
They were given a life not belonging to them
But for others put here on this earth
A faith that is tested to limit
One that is pushed to the lengths it will go
A true believer will face his god
When accomplished his saviour will know

When an angel is gifted an illness
It is a trial they need to go through
It's a trying time that will test the strength
Of a heart that was given as true
One will embrace this test that is placed on him
And for a man that has given his all
Well... I believe that this special soul
Will be ready and welcome his call
Because he has gained many that love him
As he has spent a whole life giving love
And if god should be seeking the worthiest soul
Then prepare for your greatest above

Fear the Warning

Fear the Warning

Fear the warning
She is making a stand

No army can stop her

No timing is planned

She will raise her waters

No designated course
Waves will devour us
Without any remorse
We have taken much
Given nothing in return
The evidence proven...
Yet we never learn
An ending is certain
But when will it come?
The guardian of earth
Shall surprise everyone
Fear the warning
We have all let her down
And as creatures before us
We too will all drown
As only a cleansing...
Can replenish and cure
Renewing a planet
As she was before
Before the illness
Before the pain
To remove the hurt
She must start again
So the seas will rise
And as waves roll near
The ending is written
The guardian... is here

Father to Son

Father to Son

I see me in you...
Although that boy... He wasn't  loved like you
He wore eyes like yours that would brightly shine
You even carry a heart... As i once carried mine!
You... The absolute strength in me
I wonder who you'll turn out to be?
I have faith in you... to do all that you can
To be an honest and hard working man
You... A son and a fathers pride
Can walk through your  life without having to hide
As you were needed... You helped save this soul
And you are my ultimate goal
One in which i'll support 'til end
A son that a father can call a friend
As you filled my life... Bringing so much joy
Repairing this once broken boy

Letting Go

Letting Go

How does a father let his daughter go?
When did she grow?

"Hmm... I don't know"

When did she spread her wings to fly away?

Was she not tiny... Just yesterday!

How does a father just release her hand?
"It's a hard, hard life
... Does she understand?"
Will she find home in places she shall live?
What advice does a father give!

When did another man fill her heart?
Take my world...
Pull us apart
He, who loves the woman that I do not see
This child that had needed me

Yet once I, was so little too... and I needed to be set free!
Free to roam... Free to learn... Free to find the man in me

But...
How does a father let her walk that road
Not there to take her hand... and hold
See her through miles where even he did fail
When he walked his chosen trail

All that I pray is... "Please watch over her...
Be her guide... comfort her"
And if she should need a place... At anytime
"Her home... is this heart of mine"

Where Flowers Bloom

Where Flowers Bloom

Follow the trail... scattered with red
Walk on the petals of roses now dead
Tiptoe the pathway that reaches ahead
Weaving its way to the silk of the bed
We shall spend the whole night in a ravenous kiss
Get lost in the deepest and tranquil abyss
When wrapped in a moment on nights like this
Darkness transforms itself into bliss
In this time that I spend which I have at your side
In this space where our two worlds were meant to collide...
Is the happiness one life was always denied
And the reason we both chose to hide
As a night blessed by stars so softly and soon
Light drips from the sun... That it stole from the moon
These red sheets enclose us inside our cocoon
And the lovers are ready to bloom

In That Moment At That Time

In That Moment... At That Time

I saw you in tatters

An angel without wings

I knew in an instant

What love brings, as you...
Gazed in my direction too
And you... Saw me in tatters too
And nothing else mattered
In that moment at that time
As I knew that I was yours
Like I knew your heart was mine
All surroundings would blur... Except your sollen face
Nothing but beauty
And grace...
And you... You shone like stars in the sky
And you... Made every low seem so high
And nothing seemed to matter
In that moment at that time
Stealing my heart was just...
The easiest crime
You dressed yourself in sunshine
And just placed your lips on mine
And I was captured in that moment at that time
