The Butterfly
I smiled and watched a butterfly
I watched it dance and flutter by
I followed it with eyes anew
Attracted by its blue
I then tried to understand
As I held out a steady hand
Why it landed in my open palm
As if that it knew I meant no harm
All awhile it stared at me
I'd never felt so strong and free
Its little wings then took to flight
And vanished out of sight
My very heart began to warm
Id been the butterflies platform
To land and rest it's wings upon
Another chosen one
Another which it felt secure
Reviving wings of blue azure
To travel on to distant lands...
And other caring hands
