Two birds broken found each other

Fell in love with one another

Mended, they became as one

And fled toward the rising sun

She the stronger flew ahead

Soared through clouds alone instead

Leaving him to fall behind

Without her, lost and blind

What was one, was two again

With separation came the pain

The same old feelings she once felt

Caused her heart to melt

She stopped and turned, then spilt a tear

Expecting him to reappear 

She searched the lonely skies below

But lost him long ago

When you came into my life

You became this mans best friend

At a time when I needed a kind of angel

It was you they decided to send

Broken, scared, a lot like me

And one that required my care

Maybe you'd wished the very same thing

And it was me who was standing there!

We instantly connected...

As though we'd meet in another time

Like i'd been inside your heart before

And you'd been a part of mine

In those years we shared I adored you so

And the love I received from you...

Was the love I needed in lonely times

And that love it would see me through

I'm sorry I let you down...

With a promise I was unable to keep

Am I right in thinking you've forgiven me?

As you still visit me in my sleep

And every time that I see you

I'm left with the saddest of heart

Because I open my eyes in the dark of night

With the knowing we're far apart 

But I have the strongest of feelings

That we'll meet again my old friend

Where I shall honour that promise I made you
